Kentucky Office of Vocational Rehabilitation

On-the-Job Training

On-the-Job Training is a service offered by the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation that allows the individual to learn an occupational skill by actually performing as an employee.  The Office of Vocational Rehabilitation subsidizes part of, or the entire, wage paid by the employer to the individual.

On-the-Job Training can be provided for one month (unskilled labor), three months (service occupations, wholesale/retail trade, or paraprofessional positions), or six months (skilled occupations), depending on the complexity of the job.  It is expected that successful completion of On-the-Job Training will result in the individual being hired by the employer.

The individual receiving On-the-Job Training must be paid at least the legal minimum wage and receive all compensation, coverage and privileges that accrue to other employees.
