Statewide Independent Living Council
The Statewide Council for Independent Living is a consumer-controlled council that:

jointly develops and signs (in conjunction with the designated State unit) the State Plan for Independent Living required in section 704 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended;

monitors, reviews and evaluates the implementation of the State plan;

coordinates activities with the State Rehabilitation Council established under section 105 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended;

ensures that all regularly scheduled meetings of the Statewide Independent Living Council are open to the public and sufficient advance notice is provided. Reasonable accommodations and auxiliary aids are provided with a one week notice; and
-
submits to the Executive Director such periodic reports as the Executive Director may reasonably request, and keeps such records, and afford such access to such records, as the Executive Director finds necessary to verify such reports.
The Kentucky Statewide Independent Living Council is established under authority of the Rehabilitation Act Amendments of 1998, Title IV to the Workforce Investment Act of 1998 P.L. 105-220, 29 USC §791 et seq. The Statewide Independent Living Council is specifically authorized pursuant to 29 USC §796d unless otherwise noted all citations of Section and Title refer to that authority.
The Statewide Independent Living Council conducts meetings quarterly. The public is invited to attend all meetings. Reasonable accommodations and auxiliary aids can be provided with a one week notice.
